As a researcher studying learning and memory in animal models, I always knew that sleep was a key piece of the puzzle. However, towards the end of my PhD, I realized that as fundamentally important my research is, translating it into real-world impact could take decades.

Furthermore, I have also been part of several science communication and public engagement initiatives to bring science to the people. What makes this initiative different is that it allows me to engage directly with people and learn from their lived experiences, which in turn informs and broadens my own scientific perspective.

Therefore, at this point in my career, I want to use my scientific background to advocate more effectively for sleep-related policy and innovation at a level where it matters most.
